Parish to host Dance of the Decades

NORTH KINGSTOWN — St. Francis de Sales Church, 381 School St., is sponsoring Dance of the Decades. The parish will host a dance party on Saturday, August 27 from 7 - 11 p.m. in the parish center, with appetizers and desserts. A DJ and the Ed Pepe Trio will be playing music from the 40s thru the 80s; song requests will be accepted. There will be line dancing, dance contests and prizes for the best era dressed attendees. Drinks will be available for purchase along with old style root beer floats. Even if you do not want to dance the night away, come be with friends and enjoy the music. St. Theresa's Shrine celebrates the Canonization Day of Mother Teresa

HARRISVILLE — St. Theresa's Shrine, 35 Dion Drive, will celebrate the Canonization Day of Mother Teresa, Sunday, September 4. Holy Mass will be celebrated at 11:30 am with Bishop Louis Gelineau as the main celebrant, an outdoor procession "Come Be My Light" will follow. The presentation of a Donor Memorial Plaque in honor of Dr. Satya Reddy. Sandwiches and salads will be provided as you view film coverage of Mother Teresa. All are invited.

Rosary for Life to be held in memory of fallen police officers

CHARLESTOWN — St. James Chapel, Matunuck School House Road, will host a rosary in memory of all fallen police officers and the continued safety of all law enforcement on Sunday, Aug. 28 at 11:30 a.m. under the tent. Light refreshments to follow. All are welcome.

Pilgrimage for people with disabilities to the Cathedral’s Holy Doors

PROVIDENCE — Bishop Thomas J. Tobin invites all people with disabilities to the Cathedral of Saints Peter and Paul on September 28, to honor them and their families and friends. There will be a procession through the Cathedral’s Holy Doors, prayer and a special blessing from the bishop. A collation will follow. Wheelchairs accessible.

St. Francis Xavier Church to host ‘Walk Concert’

EAST PROVIDENCE — All are invited to a “Walk Concert” at St. Francis Xavier Church, 81 North Carpenter St., on Saturday, Sept. 17, from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. Join Father Scott Pontes and Ruth Hughes and many more Certified Walk Leaders who will lead a 2-mile walk to hit faith music. ‘Thérèse: The Story of a Soul’ - a live, one-woman show to be performed at McVinney Auditorium

PROVIDENCE — The Diocese of Providence is sponsoring "Thérèse: The Story of a Soul," a live, one-woman stage performance on Saturday, Oct. 1, at 7 p.m. in McVinney Auditorium, 43 Dave Gavitt Way. The performance will be a face-to-face encounter with Saint Thérèse of Lisieux, a most beloved saint of modern times. Mass for those in recovery to be celebrated

WEST WARWICK — In cooperation with the Providence Diocese of St. Matthias Recovery Ministry, the next quarterly Mass for those in recovery on the West Bay will be at St. Mary’s Church, 68 Church St., on Sunday August 28, at 5 p.m. This Mass focuses on recovery from alcoholism, addiction, as well as mental/emotional distress and anxiety. Those struggling with addiction and alcoholism, the families of those in recovery, parishioners of St. Mary’s and the entire community are invited to attend. These Masses will continue to be celebrated each quarter and attending also satisfies your Sunday obligation. There will also be an opportunity to receive the Sacrament of the Sick during the service. All are welcome. St. Ambrose Church to host annual clambake

ALBION — St. Ambrose Church, 191 School St. will hold its annual clambake on Sunday, Sept. 11 on the church grounds from noon until 5 p.m. There will be clamcakes, chowder, dynamites, hot dogs, hamburgers and more. WARWICK — St. Benedict Church, 70 Transit St., will host their annual Fall Flea Market on Saturday, Sept. 10, from 8 a.m. – 2 p.m. And Sunday, Sept. 11 from 8 a.m. to noon. St. Brigid to host Mass with anointing of the sick

JOHNSTON — The Prayer Shawl Ministry of St. Brigid's Church, 1231 Plainfield St., will sponsoring their quarterly Mass offering the Sacrament of the Sick on Saturday, Sept. 10 at 11 a.m. Anyone preparing for surgery, suffering from a chronic illness, elderly, or experiencing spiritual and emotional pain is invited to come and pray for healing. National Day of Remembrance for children

RIVERSIDE — On Saturday, September 10 at 10 a.m., Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 550 Wampanoag Trail, Baby Land – Angel Statue, the Office of Life & Family Ministry will participate in a National Day of Remembrance for aborted children and all babies who have died due to miscarriage, stillbirth and illness. On this day Americans all across the nation will honor the memory of the more than 55 million unborn victims of abortion, and will pray for all who have been touched by abortion, as well as for all doctors, nurses and clinic staff involved with abortion. Rosary and prayers will be recited at the memorial service. Holy Angels Church to host Ham and Bean Dinner

Our Lady of Fatima to sponsor annual Motorcycle Run

CUMBERLAND — The youth ministry of Our Lady of Fatima Church, 1 Fatima Drive, is having the second annual Motorcycle Run on September 3. Proceeds from this event will benefit the youth group purchase a defibrillator for the parish. Registration starts 9 a.m., and the ride leaves at 10:30 a.m. from the rear parking lot. Following the 2 hour ride, everyone will return to the parish for food. Ticket includes food after the ride and T-shirt. Drinks will be available for purchase.
