Evening Mass at St. Martha during Lent

EAST PROVIDENCE — During Lent, St. Martha’s Parish will offer an evening Mass at 6 p.m. on Mondays and Wednesdays. All are welcome to attend.

NET Ministries Retreat dates for Fall 2017 – Spring 2018

PROVIDENCE — NET (National Evangelization Teams) Ministries is an international Catholic youth ministry that is committed to challenging young Catholics to love Christ and embrace the life of the Church, leading approximately 1,000 retreats annually. Each year, young adult volunteers are sent out in teams across the United States to conduct middle school and high school retreats for Catholic teens. The 14 NET teams share their faith with 75,000 youth nationally on an annual basis. Drama, music, games, small group discussions and large group presentations are all used to present the Gospel in a dynamic way. Retreat dates for Fall 2017 through Spring 2018 in the Diocese of Providence are now available. 40 Days for Life Fall Campaign begins

PROVIDENCE — The Office of Life and Family Ministry and R.I. Right to Life will co-sponsor the Lenten campaign which will take place now through Palm Sunday, April 9. The office is asking parishes to adopt a day or for individuals to adopt an hour for prayer at Planned Parenthood, 111 Point St., Providence, or the Women’s Medical Clinic, located at 1725 Broad St., Cranston, during this 40-day period. St. Theresa offering fish and chips every Friday during Lent

HARRISVILLE — St. Theresa of the Child Jesus, 35 Dion Drive, will offer fish and chips every Friday from noon until 7 p.m. during Lent except Good Friday. Grapenut pudding will also be available. Please call the rectory at 568-8280 with any questions regarding this event.

Lenten activities, dinner featured at St. Brendan’s Church

RIVERSIDE — St. Brendan’s Parish, 60 Turner Ave., will offer Adoration, Rosary Holy Hour and Sacramental Reconciliation on Wednesdays during Lent at 6:30 p.m. All are also invited to attend Friday dinners during Lent, from 4 – 6:45 p.m. featuring chowder, clam cakes, grilled cheese, crab cake sandwiches and fish and chips. There will be complimentary coffee and desserts. Stations of the Cross will begin at 7 p.m.

Parish to celebrate weekly Traditional Latin Mass in Lent

WARWICK — In conjunction with the Diocesan Year of Mary, and praying for the Bishop’s monthly intention, Saints Rose and Clement Parish, 111 Long St., is hosting an Evening of Rosary and Benediction on Tuesday, March 28 at 7 p.m.

Learn about humility in an age of power

KINGSTON — On Monday, March 27 at 7 p.m., noted author and Scripture scholar Alice Camille will challenge perceptions about power and share the tools to develop a humble heart. The event will be held at the Christ the King Parish Hall, 180 Old North Road.

St. Agnes Church announces Lenten Mass schedule and Pasta Supper

PROVIDENCE — The Lenten schedule for St. Agnes Church, 351 Branch Ave., is as follows: Weekday Masses during Lent will be celebrated on Mondays and Fridays at noon. Stations of the Cross will be held on Tuesdays during Lent at 7 p.m. following the 6 p.m. St. Jude Novena.

Speaker to discuss afterlife and prayer at local parish

CHARLESTOWN — Father Paul Demarais of St. Mary’s Parish, Carolina, has arranged for Dr. Gloria Polo to speak at St. James Chapel, Matunuck Schoolhouse Road, on Friday, March 24 from 7 - 8:30 p.m. All are welcome. Dr. Polo, will share her remarkable story about experiencing God’s mercy. Her testimony will give her insights on sin, confession, Mass, the afterlife, the power of intercessory prayer, parenthood and immortality.

Indoor flea market scheduled, to feature Polish food, desserts

WOONSOCKET — St. Stanislaus Kostka Parish, 174 Harris Ave., will host an indoor flea market on Saturday March 25, from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m., and Sunday, March 26, from 9 a.m. – 2 p.m. There will be a good selection of clothing, household items, linens, toys, tapes, record and books. In addition, a Polish kitchen will be open with all Polish favorites to eat in or take out. Pastry and home baked goods will also be available.

St. Xavier Academy Homecoming

WARWICK — The Class of 1967 of St. Xavier Academy is seeking classmates to celebrate their 50th Year Anniversary at the annual Homecoming and Reunion on Sunday, Oct. 22., 11 a.m. Mass will begin the day at St. Timothy’s Church, Warwick. PROVIDENCE — Catholic young men ages 13-18 are invited to attend Quo Vadis Days camp to spend time with other young men from around the diocese to cultivate friendship, strengthen your faith and discover God’s purpose for their life. Hope and Cope Group meetings scheduled

PORTSMOUTH — The next meeting of the Hope and Cope Group is Sunday, March 26, from 5 p.m. – 6 p.m. Hope & Cope is a faith-based support group intended for those struggling with or supporting a family member or a friend with substance addiction or mental distress. The Hope and Cope Group meets in the Chapel Meeting Room, under the small Chapel at St. Barnabas. This program is free, and no registration is required. Knights and Legion of Mary slated to host Public Square Rosary

RIVERSIDE — In honor of the “Year with Mary our Mother,” all are invited to take part in a Public Square Rosary with the Knights of Columbus and the Legion of Mary on Sunday, April 2, from 1 – 2 p.m. in front of the Knights of Columbus Hall at 3200 Pawtucket Ave. This public square rosary is a gathering of the faithful to pray the rosary in a public venue in solidarity for our country and in honor of the anniversary of Our Lady of Fatima. Multilingual Acies Ceremony scheduled

CUMBERLAND — Reverend Fernando Cabral, pastor of Our Lady of Fatima Church, 1 Fatima Drive, will preside over this year’s Legion of Mary Annual Multilingual Acies Ceremony, on Saturday, March 25, beginning with Holy Mass at 10 a.m., followed by the Multilingual Acies Ceremony.

Concert at St. Francis Xavier Church

EAST PROVIDENCE — A concert to rededicate the recently restored concert grand piano that formerly belonged to the late Father Rego will be held on March 26, at 3 p.m., in Rego Auditorium, 81 North Carpenter St., and performed by renowned pianist Raymond Buttero. Buttero is a graduate of New England Conservatory and Juilliard and has performed Carnegie Hall, Yale, Italy and Portugal to name a few. He will be performing works by Handel, Beethoven, Debussy and several pieces by famous Portuguese composer Jose Vianna da Motta. A freewill offering will be accepted. Holy Name of Jesus to be venue for Rhode Island College Spring Concert

PROVIDENCE — The Early Music Ensemble of the Department of Music, Theatre and Dance at Rhode Island College will present their spring concert on March 26, at 3 p.m. With a mix of joy and pathos proper to Laetare Sunday, works by Heinrich Schutz, Alessandro Grandi, Marc-Antoine Charpentier, J. S. Bach and others will be presented. Once again the venue is the basilica-style Church of the Holy Name of Jesus, 99 Camp St., with its admirable acoustics. Entrance to the Concert is free. Offerings can be made to support the musical program of the parish.

Interfaith Counseling Center to host annual Fundraising Event

EAST GREENWICH — Seeds of Hope: A night of inspiration and cocktails, the Interfaith Counseling Center’s third annual fundraiser, will be held on Thursday, March 30 at 6 p.m. at the restaurant 1149. The event will feature hors-d’oeuvres and a cash bar, for all those over 21 years old. A wide array of silent auction items range from Opening Day Boston Red Sox tickets, tickets to a Red Sox vs. Yankees game with free parking, a signed Hanley Ramirez jersey, on-the-glass tickets to the Boston Bruins, a diverse selection of restaurant gift cards, wine and liquor packages and a Providence getaway. How to respond to our suffering neighbor

BRISTOL — St. Elizabeth Parish will present a Parish Lenten Mission March 27-29, 7 p.m., presented by Dr. Dianne Traflet, J.D., S.T.D., associate dean for Graduate Studies and administration and assistant professor of pastoral theology at Immaculate Conception Seminary School of Theology, at Seton Hall University. The mission is entitled “Surveying the conditions with a vigilant eye: How Mary helps us see and respond to our suffering neighbor.”

Mercy in the City: Doing God’s work at Ungodly Hours

PROVIDENCE — St. Sebastian Church, 67 Cole Ave., will host a Lenten Mission on Saturday, March 25, at 6 p.m., with a reception to follow. America’s Executive Editor Kerry Weber will discuss her efforts to participate fully in city life and in the life of the Church while still maintaining her sanity. Lenten mission to feature internationally known liturgical composer

NEW BEDFORD, Mass. — Our Lady of the Assumption Church, 47 South Sixth St., New Bedford, Mass., will host a Lenten Mission on Saturday, March 25, at 6 p.m., and Sunday, March 26, at 3 p.m., featuring guest speaker Grayson Warren Brown. Brown is an internationally known liturgical composer, author and recording artist, who began his liturgical ministry in the late 1960s in a small inner-city parish in New York City where he learned early how significant an authentic, spirited experience of worship can be to people in need of hope.
