Conversion is possible for legislators determined to legalize extreme abortion

TO THE EDITOR:

I am writing to urge our lawmakers to stop the advance of the radical legislation in this state that seeks to expand the already abominable practice of murdering innocent unborn children, the heinousness of which our society has been anesthetized from acknowledging via sanitized Orwellian terminology like “choice” and “reproductive rights.” Such legislation is dangerous, even opposed by those who have a pro-abortion position. While there are many falsehoods behind this push, there is one in particular that I have heard too often without equivalent space given to a more than adequate rebuttal: it is the contention that the pro-life stance is supported only by religious argument. It is time to promote the truth that this can also be seen from a human, rational, common good basis. I sincerely and wholeheartedly urge our legislators to stop the advance of the pro-abortion agenda. I would like to say “before it’s too late,” but in my estimation, it is always too late when innocents are being murdered and “harvested.” While it is not my place to condemn, the begrudging task of “afflicting the comfortable” is often required when there are no other options. I believe that where sin abounds, grace abounds all the more, provided we repent as communities and as a state. It took me some time to come around on this foundational issue, and I believe conversion is possible for anyone. If we don’t get Life right, the rest will unravel in time.
