Father Francis Crowley

NORTH ATTLEBORO, Mass. — Father Francis Crowley, the chief of chaplains at the Veterans Administration Hospital, Providence, died March 4.

Born in Dorchester, Mass., he was the son of the late Patrick and Bridget (Walsh) Crowley. He was a graduate of Boston College and was the director of the Colonial Pipers Bagpipe Band in Norwood, Mass., for 36 years.

He was ordained to the priesthood for the Archdiocese of Boston on September 29, 1953 and served throughout the Archdiocese. He also ministered as chaplain of the Veterans Administration Hospital, Bronx, N.Y., and subsequently served in Providence.

He was the brother of the late Sister Mary Crowley and Patrick Crowley.

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated March 12 in St. Ann Church, Neponset, Mass. Bishop Francis X. Roque was the main celebrant. Burial was in New Calvary Cemetery, Mattapan, Mass.
