James F. Woolley

COVENTRY — James F. Woolley, 91, of Coventry, passed away at home Sunday, May 6, 2018, with his family by his side. He was the beloved husband of 59 years to Margaret (Andryc) Woolley.

A son of George and Sarah (Vassett) Woolley, he grew up in Valley Falls, and proudly served as a US Navy Torpedoman’s Mate 3rd Class in the Pacific during World War II. He was employed at Hospital Trust for more than 25 years before retiring. A devout Catholic, Jim was an active parishioner of SS. John and Paul Church for more than 50 years, and an active member and Past Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus Msgr. Blessing Council. He was easy-going and truly saw the beauty in life, and greatly enjoyed yard work, carpentry, history books, traveling, the Friars and the Red Sox, a good meal, his man cave, and most of all, spending time with family and friends.

In addition to his wife, he leaves his daughter, Paula Woolley, and her husband Mitch Evich of Somerville MA; his son, Very Rev. Michael Woolley, Pastor of St. Joseph Church, Woonsocket, and as of July 1, Pastor of Ss. John and Paul Church, Coventry; and his grandchildren, Andryc Evich of Washington DC, and Iris Evich of Somerville, Mass. He was predeceased by his brother George Woolley.

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Saturday, May 12 at SS. John and Paul Church. Donations may be made to Our Lady of Providence Seminary or SS. John and Paul Church, Coventry.
