Pastoral visit to Our Lady of Mount Carmel School

Bishop Thomas J. Tobin visited Our Lady of Mount Carmel School on Monday, September 11, to offer the school’s first Monday Morning Message of the new academic year. According to Principal Janet Maloney, the Monday Morning Message program began in September 2015 as a way to demonstrate to students that faith should always be an integral part of life. Since then, about 65 speakers have visited the school to recount personal stories of their faith journeys and encourage students in their own relationship with God. Bishop Tobin recalled his school days attending St. Teresa School in Pittsburgh and encouraged the students to pay close attention in their religion classes, as religion would teach them how to form a friendship with God and make the world a better place. “Our final goal is in heaven with God, and that’s why my faith is so important to me, but your faith will be important to you, too,” he told the students. “It’ll help you to be a better person, stronger person, to be close to God one day and in heaven.”
