NORTH?SMITHFIELD — Franciscan Missionary of Mary Sister Alice D. Smilanich, a member of the Ein Karim Community, died Aug. 22 at St. Antoine Residence.
Born in Penrose, Colo., she was the daughter of the late George and Mary (Gaiski) Smilanich.
She entered the Institute of the Franciscan Missionaries of Mary at Fruit Hill, North Providence, on June 13, 1941 and pronounced her first vows there on Dec. 15, 1946.
Sister Smilanich was sent to mission in Monrovia, Liberia, where she pronounced her final vows on Dec. 15, 1946.
She is survived by many nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Aug. 27 in Holy Family Chapel. Burial was in Holy Family Cemetery, North Providence.
