St. Brendan Parish to present Christmas Concert

RIVERSIDE — All are invited to attend the annual Christmas Concert with the parish choir, brass quartet, timpani, violin and cello, at St. Brendan Parish, 60 Turner Ave., on Friday, Dec. 14, at 7 p.m. This is a free event with a light reception to follow. St. Kevin Church to present Christmas concert

WARWICK — St. Kevin Church, 333 Sandy Lane, will present a Christmas concert on Friday, Dec. 14 at 7 p.m. The concert will feature the combined voices of the choirs of St. Kevin, St. Rita and St. Timothy churches, guest soloists and even a visit from Santa. Special guests will be the Woodbury Union Church hand bell choir with bells recovered from their devastating fire on November 21st. Admission is free.

Saint Joseph Church to present Christmas concert

NEWPORT — Saint Joseph Church choir, Denis Tetrault organist/conductor will present a concert featuring vocalists Emma Hookway, Stephanie Tierno, Jen Vaillancourt, Laura Williams and Lionel Boisvert offering a varied program including music for the Christmas season accompanied by organ, piano, brass and timpani. The concert will take place in the sanctuary and gallery of Saint Joseph’s Church, Mann Avenue and Broadway on Saturday, Dec. 15 at 7 p.m. Tickets will be available at the doors of the church the evening of the concert. Knights of Columbus to host Advent Retreat

PAWTUCKET — Join the Knights of Columbus and families of St. Teresa of the Child Jesus Church, 358 Newport Ave., for “Making Him Room as a Family” on Sunday, Dec. 16, at 2 p.m. The retreat is open to all ages and will have special programing and activities for children. The afternoon will include Mass at 5 p.m. followed by a free pasta and meatball dinner, with good will offerings accepted from those able to make such a gesture. Joyful Sounds of the Season at Saint Matthew Church

CRANSTON — The Saint Matthew Music Ministry, under the direction of Kyle P. Jameson, KHS, will present the fourth annual “Joyful Sounds of the Season” concert on Sunday, Dec. 16, at 2 p.m. The concert will feature a 20-piece orchestra and choir performing the works of Rutter, Holst, Willcocks, Bach and arrangements of Christmas carols. Choir and Band Concert scheduled at Our Lady of the Rosary Church

PROVIDENCE — On Sunday, Dec. 16, 3 p.m., there will be a concert by the Our Lady of the Rosary Church Parish Choir and the Holy Rosary Band at the church, 21 Traverse St. The concert will feature selections of religious and Christmas music. An Advent-Christmas Choral Journey

Lessons and Carols planned at Holy Angels Church

BARRINGTON — The Parish Choir, under the direction of Nicholas Rocha, will present Lessons and Carols, an evening of word and song, at Holy Angels Church on Sunday, Dec. 16 at 5 p.m. The public is invited to this performance, which will offer an opportunity to reflect on the true meaning of Christmas. In lieu of admission, non-perishable food donations for the less fortunate will be accepted at the doors of the church before the concert. All invited to annual Nativity Lighting at R.I. Statehouse

PROVIDENCE — The 6th annual Nativity Lighting will take place in the rotunda of the Statehouse on Wednesday, Dec. 19 from 3-4 p.m. The lighting is presented by the Joy to the World Nativity Committee and sponsored by the Thomas More Society in conjunction with media sponsors Relevant Radio and Rhode Island Catholic. The event will feature the singing of Christmas carols and refreshments of Christmas cookies donated by Buono's Bakery. The event is free and open to the public.

A Journey Through the Nativity at St. Rocco Church

St. Patrick Church to host 24-hour rosary prayer vigil

PROVIDENCE — St. Patrick Church, 244 Smith St., will host a 24-hour Rosary Prayer Vigil on December 28 and 29. The event will begin on Friday, Dec. 28 at 3:30 p.m. in the small chapel located in the school building and will conclude at 3:30 p.m. on Dec. 29. Missionary Image of Our Lady of Guadalupe

Annual Human Life Guild Respect for Life Mass

PROVIDENCE — The annual Human Life Guild Respect for Life Mass, an invitation to prayer for all human life, will be celebrated at the Cathedral of SS. Annual diocesan Pilgrimage to 2019 March for Life in D.C.

PROVIDENCE — The diocesan Office of Life and Family is sponsoring two buses to travel to the 2019 March for Life in Washington, D.C., to mark the 46th anniversary of the U.S. Supreme Court’s decision to legalize abortion. Buses will depart from Rhode Island on Thursday, Jan. 17, at 7 p.m., for an overnight ride and arrive at the Verizon Center for the Youth Rally and Mass at approximately 6 a.m. the next morning. There will be opportunities for confession, to pray the rosary, enjoy music by popular Catholic recording artists, hear presentations and participate in a Mass for Life. Buses will leave the nation’s capital at about 5 p.m. on Friday, arriving in Rhode Island at about 2 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 19.
