Advent Taize Service at Holy Apostles Church

CRANSTON — Holy Apostles Church, 800 Pippin Orchard Rd., will hold an Advent Taize service on Thursday, Dec. 14, at 6:30 p.m. Take a break during the holiday rush to meditate on the mystery of the Lord’s coming. The service includes readings from scripture, communal and silent prayer, and songs composed by the Taize religious community. For more information, call 946-5586.

Day of Confession

TIVERTON — Holy Ghost Church, 316 Judson St., is pleased to offer a whole day of Confession in preparation for Christmas, on December 15, from 7:30 a.m. - 7:30 p.m. Adoration and Confessions will be in the Church. The day will close with Benediction of the Most Blessed Sacrament. All are welcome.

An evening of Christmas Music and Carols at St. Bartholomew Church

PROVIDENCE — The choir of St. Bartholomew Church will host an evening of Christmas music and carols on Friday, Dec. 15, at 7 p.m., in the church, 297 Laurel Hill Ave. Refreshments will be served in the church basement immediately following the performance.

Sacred Heart Church to host Cabaret Night

WOONSOCKET — On Friday, December 15, Sacred Heart Church, 415 Olo St., will be having a Cabaret Night in the Parish Center from 7-9 p.m. “Two of Hearts” will be performing and the program will incorporate Christmas favorites. Wine, beer, soda and water will be available for purchase. Guests may bring their own snacks to enjoy during the show. Complimentary coffee and dessert will be served during intermission. Tickets are $15 and may be purchased at Sacred Heart Rectory, Monday thru Wednesday from 9-2 p.m.; after the 9:15 a.m. Sunday Mass at Sacred Heart Church; at “A Special Place” during regular business hours; or by calling Kathy or Bob Robbio at 508-883-8761.

Caroling and Praying for 'Peace in the Womb'

PROVIDENCE — The Diocese of Providence Office of Life and Family Ministry and Rhode Island Right to Life invite all to attend a time for caroling and praying for “Peace in the Womb,” on Saturday, Dec. 16, from 10 a.m. – 11 a.m. at Planned Parenthood, 175 Broad St. If you are unable to attend, but would like to support these peaceful efforts, please pray that through the intercession of St. Michael the Archangel there will be a change of hearts and minds of all people that work directly and indirectly in the abortion industry. Christmas choir and band concert at Our Lady of the Rosary Church

PROVIDENCE — On Sunday, Dec. 17 at 3 p.m., Our Lady of the Rosary Church, 21 Traverse St., will present its annual concert by the parish choir and the Holy Rosary Band in the church. The concert will feature selections of religious and Christmas music. Following the concert, there will be refreshments in the church hall. All are welcome to attend.

Holy Angels Church to host Lessons and Carols

BARRINGTON — The parish choir of Holy Angels Church, at 341 Maple Ave., will present Lessons and Carols, an evening of word and song, on Sunday, Dec. 17 at 5 p.m. The public is invited to this special performance which will offer an opportunity to reflect on the true meaning of Christmas. In lieu of admission, non-perishable food donations for the less fortunate will be accepted at the doors of the church before the concert. Complimentary refreshments will follow. Holy Angels is fully-accessible.

Breakfast with Santa at St. Brigid Church

JOHNSTON — Confirmation Candidates of St. Brigid Church, 1231 Plainfield St., will host Breakfast with Santa on Sunday, Dec. 17. Santa is to arrive in the church hall at 11 a.m. and will be taking a list of what the children would like to receive for Christmas. Children’s friends and their families are invited to attend to enjoy a light breakfast, visit with Santa and take pictures. Admission is free.

St. Charles Borromeo Church to present a Christmas Concert

WOONSOCKET— On Sunday, Dec. 17, at 3 p.m., St. Charles Borromeo Church, 190 North Main St. will present a Christmas Concert featuring the adult choir, with special guests the Providence Youth Guitar Ensemble. Free and open to the public.

‘Joyful Sounds of the Season’ at St. Matthew Church

CRANSTON — The Saint Matthew Church Music Ministry under the direction of Kyle P. Jameson will present the third annual “Joyful Sounds of the Season” concert on Sunday, Dec. 17 at 2 p.m. The concert will feature the works of Rutter, Holst, Willcocks, Vivaldi and arrangements of favorite Christmas Carols and selections from Handel’s Messiah. Saint Matthew Church is located on the corner of Park and Elmwood Avenue and is handicap accessible. Admission is free of charge, a free will offering will be collected.

St. Joseph and St. Patrick Churches welcome all to Christmas Masses

St. Thomas Church to host pasta and meatball dinner

PROVIDENCE — There will be a pasta and meatball dinner held in the St. Thomas Church hall, 65 Fruit Hill Ave. on Saturday, Jan. 13, from 5:30 p.m. - 8:30 p.m. Dinner will include pasta and meatballs, salad, desserts. ‘Meeting Jesus’ faith formation program scheduled

RIVERSIDE —All are invited to take part in a one session faith formation program entitled “Meeting Jesus,” on Monday, Jan. 15, from 6:30 – 8 p.m. in the school basement of St. Brendan’s. It will be a practical exploration of how we can get to know Jesus through the scriptures, the sacraments and the saints. It is great for those who have been away from the faith or have never believed in Christ. Light refreshments will be served. Bring a friend and spread the word. Knights to host Blood Drive

RIVERSIDE — The Knights of Columbus Council 1528 in East Providence, working with the Rhode Island Blood Center, will host a Blood Drive on Sunday, Jan. 21, from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m., at 3200 Pawtucket Ave. All presenting donors will receive a Dunkin Donuts gift card.
