Wisdom of Holy Spirit needed to avoid broad conflict in Middle East

Posted

TO THE EDITOR:

Recent events in the Middle East, especially around the Persian Gulf have impelled me to ask:
1. That we be wary and vigilant regarding the danger of conflict in the Middle East, especially involving Iran.
2. That we realize that we are not insulated from events spiraling out of control, as happened with the assassination of the Archduke Franz Ferdinand of Austria, triggering the start of World War I, due to the charged and polarized atmosphere of the time.
3. That we pray, mindful of ALL that PENTECOST means, that we here in the U.S. and peoples in other countries are not dragged into an armed conflict with Iran, given the charged atmosphere presently existing in our country and in our world.
