Young Men Take Part in Vocational Camp

Fourteen high school-aged boys from around the Diocese of Providence participated in Quo Vadis Days, a vocational camp for young men, at Our Lady of Providence Seminary and other locations July 30 - August 2. Activities included daily Mass, a challenge course and witness talks by Catholic men about the priesthood and married life. According to Father Chris Murphy, assistant director of vocations for the Diocese of Providence, the camp follows a model used by dioceses around the country and is intended to help young men consider all vocations. “The idea is that we wanted it to be a positive experience of sharing their faith with other young men from around the diocese,” he said. Andrew Larivee, a rising senior at Mount St. Charles Academy and one of the participants, said the camp provided a peaceful time to consider his discernment. “Trying to discover where is God calling me, personally I think that’s one of the most important things you need to find,” he said. Above, participants listened at a panel featuring diocesan seminarians as part of their experience learning about different vocations.
